We are Larry and Patty Stearns...proud owners and operators of the now totally refurbished Desert Riviera Hotel. That’s us pictured next to our ‘51 Nash.

Our modest hotel was originally built in 1951 by noted Palm Springs architect, Herbert Burns and designer of several quintessential mid-century masterpieces.

The Desert Riviera Hotel catered, as it does today, to guests craving a romantic retreat, a gathering of close friends or anyone who just needs to slow down and catch their breath. Still others love to be here for the exact same reasons we came here.... the warm sun and blue skies.

We’re from Oregon. Home of tall green trees and endless months of liquid sunshine.... well, at least, it seemed that way. Today, we relish in 360 days of real sunshine Palm Springs affords one and all.

Our love affair with the hotel literally began just a few months ago, when Patty and I happened to stroll past and noticed a For Sale sign in front of a very tired but charming small old hotel. As they say... the rest is history. Little did we know, we were about to add another gem to the growing number of mid-century masterpieces brought back from the edge of oblivion.

For the next few months, the hotel was Grand Central Station abuzz with contractors, plumbers, tile men, decorators and painters working at an incredible pace to recreate a place that now is a dream come true.

Way back in our minds, we always knew we wanted to create a intimate personable hotel that would place convenience and guest service above everything else.

Today the hotel has been reincarnated with a beautiful mix of modern conveniences and ‘50’s style.
Fresh-squeezed citrus colors. Luxurious touches. And an amenities list that no one can match.

We hope you’ll enjoy the many fine details of the Desert Riviera....the physical ones Patty directed and helped craft along with the one-of-a-kind personable atmosphere Judy (she’s pictured above on the right) creates from the first phone call to the last ”please come back and see us”.
